Javier Alvarez
Javier Alvarez has lived in Britain since 1981, performing with numerous
prestigious ensembles, working in the Sonic Arts Network, and producing
high-tech and multimedia events. He now divides his time between London and
Mexico City. His catalog includes works for the concert hall, theater, dance,
film, and television.
Alvarez currently teaches composition and computer music technology at the Royal
College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music in London. Born in 1956 in
Mexico, he studied clarinet and composition there before pursuing further
studies at the University of Wisconsin and the Royal College of Music in London.
He is a recipient of numerous international honors including the Mendelssohn
Scholarship, the Lionel Robbins Award, the Gemini Fellowship, and a Creation
Award from the National Council for the Arts in Mexico.
