Stephen Burns, Artistic Director [He/ him/ his]

Conductor, composer and trumpeter Stephen Burns is the Founder and Artistic Director of Fulcrum Point New Music Project. He has been acclaimed on four continents for his virtuosity and interpretative depth in recitals, orchestral appearances, chamber music, and multi-media performances. He has worked closely with composers John Corigliano, Osvaldo Golijov, Gunther Schuller, Jacob TV, and La Monte Young. Native to Wellesley, Massachusetts, Mr. Burns studied under Carmine Caruso, Armando Ghitalla, Arnold Jacobs, Vincent Penzarella, Gerard Schwarz, Pierre Thibaud, William Vacchiano, and Roger Voisin at the Tanglewood Music Center, the Julliard School, and postgraduate work in Paris. He won the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, Avery Fisher Career Grant, the NEA Recital Grant, the Naumburg Award, the Charles Colin Award, the Meier Arts Achievement Award, and the Maurice André Concours International de Paris. Mr. Burns is a former tenured Professor of Music at Indiana University , a certified teacher in The Art of Practicing and Performing, and Visiting Lecturer at Northwestern University, as well as with Amici della Musica in Florence, Italy. CDs at Naxos, MHS, Dorian, Delos, Essay, Kleos, and Innova. Stephen Burns is a Yamaha performing artist.

Bradley Powell, General Manager [He/ him/ his]

Bradley Powell is a multi-disciplinary artist, curator, educator, and activist. His varied skillset and interests as an independent filmmaker and arts administrator help to support Fulcrum Point’s commitment to further expand the new art music landscape and to push the boundaries of the intersectional artistic experience. Bradley last served as Public Relations & Marketing Director for boutique DVD/Blu-ray company Olive Films and is co-founder and director of The Work Symposium: Chicago-Based Discussions on Film and Filmmaking. As a writer-director of dramatic fiction, Bradley’s work is an amalgam of music, language, history, and politics and concerns itself first and foremost with the need for empathy and strong communal bonds.

Karen Cubides, Marketing & Communications Director [She/ her /hers]

Karen Cubides is Fulcrum Point’s Marketing & Communications Director and the passionate and engaging founder and CEO of the Karen Cubides Agency based in Nashville, Tennessee. Her commitment, care, and creativity have connected her with incredible individuals and organizations across the world. As CEO of KCA and as an avid educator, Karen is a frequent lecturer on arts marketing and branding, appearing at the New England Conservatory, the Colburn School, the Curtis Institute of Music, Vanderbilt University, and Boston Conservatory, among other institutions. Karen has had the privilege of working with musicians of all backgrounds, from Birdland to Broadway and from the Philharmonic to the Blair School of Music. Karen is also the founder and host of The Musician’s Guide to Being Healthy, Wealthy, and Wise Podcast. Featured guests on the podcast include Jennifer Wharton, Christian Griego, Jeremy Wilson, Demondrae Thurman, Roxy Coss, and more.
